Gruelling
Monday, October 27, 2008Selecting 60 photos out of 1000 is certainly no mean feat... Here're some others that I personally like (unedited):

We met up with KC, our prewedding photographer, earlier this week to collect a softcopy of the photos. Prior to that, I exchanged a number of smses with him.
KC: Can I meet you later, like around 8pm?
Me: Darling, KC asked if he can meet us later, but I'm feeling very tired. Can you pick me up earlier? [this msg was actually meant for JW, but I somehow sent it to KC instead]
KC: Wrong darling la. Anyway, I can meet you earlier.
How embarrassing. :P

I caught up with some old friends at my favourite yakitori restaurant in town - Nanbantei. The other must-try items on the menu are the grilled Gindara (Cod fish) and grilled corn cob.
By the time I whipped out my camera, we had already finished almost all the food on the table. If you haven't noticed by now, I hardly ever take photos of my food. :P

While TS and Ash were deep in conversation, Karen and I were busy exchanging cameras, making silly actions and camwhoring. I had such a hard time trying to restrain my laughter. Sorry, I am not as demure as I look. In fact, I was trying my best not to burst out laughing in this picture.
These were the people who made my Beijing stint bearable, and it warms my heart to know that our friendship transcends all boundaries. :) It has been 2-3 yrs now, but we have always made it a point to keep in touch with one another although we have all moved on to the different stages of our lives. Some have relocated for work and couldn't join us for dinner. Others like TS are now mothers, while Ash and myself are walking down the aisle within the next couple of months.
After dinner, JW picked me up for a drink at Starbucks followed by a heartwarming yet absoluting hilarious French movie entitled "Welcome to the Land of the Shtis". I was bowled over by the portrayal of human emotions, witty dialogues and vivid images of quaint village houses tucked away amidst serenity.JW's attempt at an artistic "armpit" shot (except that in this case, the armpit has been replaced by the handle of a mug.

I usually don't do lunch on weekends because I can't wake up in time. Even if I do manage to wake up, I can never open my eyes wide. That explains the sleepy eyes here.Family shot.

Some of my friends may be aware that I took music as an GCE 'O' level subject and that I have a Grade 8 ABRSM cert (distinction).
As much as I like music, I never did pursue my music diploma as I eventually placed greater emphasis on my academic studies. I think that's one of my greatest regrets to date. I might not be as talented as Lang Lang, Kissin, Rubenstein etc., but I could have had the opportunity to pursue one of my passions as a career, which is more meaningful than being trapped in one corporate environment after another simply because there are no viable career options outside the corporate world.
Anyway, here are my favourite classical compositions. Just thought it'll be nice to share these masterpieces:
1) Verdi's La Traviata (Placido Domingo and Lucia Popp)
2) Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 (Daniel Barenboim)
3) Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata Movement 2
4) Liszt's Liebestraum (Lang Lang)Listening to some of my favourite classical compositions never fails to evoke melancholic memories, and I can't help but feel bitter about this particular decision that I made in the past.

F1 Grand Prix (Friday's race)

Xin Wang HK Cafe

No more makeup for me these days except for my undereye concealer, eyeliner and the occasional mascara.
I think we look like kids.
New Home
Entrance to mine.
Entrance to his.
Master bedroom bathroom (only tiles are up)

Kitchen flooring. I like the large black tiles.
Most of my colleagues received free corporate tix to the F1 race on Friday, so off we went to watch the race in the comfort of an air-conditioned suite, complete with a mediocre buffet spread (quite tolerable nonetheless) and free-flow of drinks. The best view (think meandering bends) of the race can also be seen from the top floor of the suite. I had an extra ticket too, which I kindly offered to my bf, but he said he would rather rockclimb. All his colleagues said he was mad!
I'm not much of an F1 fan, but I had an incredible time munching on free food and gossiping with my crazy colleagues. Erm...I sound so auntie.
Here're some lousy pics from my hp:
I can't imagine why anyone would pay so much to watch the race from the grandstand. Our weather is so hot and humid!!

Xin Wang HK Cafe
This is one of my favourite hangouts. I absolutely adore the soya beancurd dessert, which comes in a ridiculously large portion. Then again, that's what I like about it. It comes in a bucket!
The waitresses were very amazed when we ordered this after devouring our main courses. I may be skinny, but I eat like a cow.

New Home
We went to check out our new home. Renovation works have been stalled until the contractor rectifies the flooring problem. My future MIL found quite a number of hollow tiles.
