I've just received the full set of birthday photos from Karen and I just couldn't wait to post them up! Yes, I blogged about my birthday previously (click here) but here's the final piece to complete the jigsaw.

Just before Sushi delivered Leonidas, all of us gathered for a massive pig-out session at Vivocity's Shin Kushiya. This is another Japanese restaurant with absolutely yummy yakitori and grilled dishes.

Right behind URA centre, rows of beautifully conserved shophouses line the streets, juxtaposed against a backdrop of towering skyscrapers. Never forget your roots, this picture before me seems to say. To me, these restored shophouses serve as a constant reminder of our heritage while the skyscrapers depict our growth and development over the years.

Club Street and Ann Siang Street, in particular, now house cafes, stand-alone boutiques run by local designers, as well as one of my favourite bookstores, BooksActually. The buildings here were given a brand new look but elements of its glorious past were carefully preserved.

JW and I chanced upon a quaint little cafe called Le Chocolat Cafe at Club Hotel on a dreamy afternoon after our visit to URA. We were immediately blown away by both its exterior and interior as it reminded us of cafes typically found in Europe. It was a breath of fresh air.

I was so enthralled by the surroundings and was looking forward to wandering around a bit more, but unfortunately, it started drizzling! I'll definitely be back again when the weather is friendlier! Again, the dress here is from my lovely sponsor, ClubCouture.

I've been on a food trail recently, hunting down all the cafes and restaurants that I have yet to try in our little food paradise called Singapore. Everything that I blog about has got to do with food, more food...and even more food!!!

I love visiting museums when I travel because it is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get to know a country's history and heritage. As a child, my parents used to take me to museums all over Singapore. Although the museum exhibits then were less comprehensive, I always found my visits very enriching.

Recently, I had the opportunity to relive my childhood, thanks to my resourceful brother who took the initiative to secure discounted tickets to the Pompeii exhibition at the national museum.

We were slightly disappointed with the exhibition as most of the artifacts were replicas, but everyone had fun posing for the camera. That's my brother up there, pretending to be one of the carcasses recovered after Mount Vesuvius erupted.

As we still had time on our hands, we made a quick stop at the National History Museum, which turned out to be much more interesting than we thought.

The museum is divided into various sections, each of which details different stages of development that Singapore underwent to achieve its success today. The best part is, every visitor is equipped with an audio guide, which makes the tour much more engaging and interactive.


Once again, my brother had no qualms about fooling around and documenting his silly antics through pictures, at the expense of his sister.

It's about time I shared this restaurant with everyone, if you haven't yet had the chance to try it out.
The crabmeat linguine here is a favourite of mine.

The tomato sauce is very flavourful and its smooth consistency leaves you wanting more. You'll also find that the chili and pine nuts lend that extra burst of flavour, adding variation in taste. It's so very addictive!

Marmalade Pantry serves all-day breakfast too, which led to my other half's decision to order french toast drizzled with chocolate sauce. I thought it was pretty average.

(JW: It tastes better than your crabmeat linguine loh!)

I mean, how different can french toast taste?! Give me my Tunisian from Wild Honey anytime. :)

In the evening, we popped over to Karen's place for a traditional Christmas dinner, complete with a sumptuous spread of turkey and other delicacies painstakingly prepared by the host and her guests! JW and Ethan were also given the honour of carving the turkey for all the ladies at the table.

The star attraction of the night had to be Koji's baby, Andre, who came aptly dressed as Santa Claus. All he needed was a white beard and a sack full of presents to complete the look! We had a ball of a time posing and playing with Andre. He is such an adorable and sweet-tempered baby! Oh and did I mention that his cheeks are so chubby we just couldn't keep our hands off them? ;P

What's a Christmas party without gifts? So there we were, presenting gifts to one another and sharing in the joy of giving. Most of us unwrapped our presents on the spot like gleeful little children!

After the gift exchange, we spent the rest of the night playing Taboo, which eventually culminated in a session of charades and win, lose or draw. Who would have thought that this would get everyone's creative juices flowing? The hilarious drawings resulted in such uncontrollable bouts of laughter, I bet the neighbours must have thought we had all gone mad! We had so much fun that the party only came to an end at 5am!

Some parting shots with Calister and Liyuan before we went back to Yvonne and Adrian's place for drinks and food. We were so engrossed in our conversations we completely forgot to take photos with the hosts in their home!
